At Heidi’s Encantos Studio, we believe you should know what goes into the products you put on your skin.
We carefully select our oils, butters, clays, botanicals, and other ingredients based on the qualities they bring to each formula. Our products are made in small batches in the Rio Grande Valley, giving us the opportunity to be hands-on with every step of the process.
From our locally sourced, house-rendered tallow to our nourishing plant oils and beautiful clays, every ingredient has a purpose.
OUR SOAP INGREDIENTS
🐄 Grass-Fed Tallow
Our tallow is locally sourced in the Rio Grande Valley and slowly rendered in-house. Tallow is a traditional soapmaking ingredient that creates a hard, long-lasting bar with a rich, creamy lather.
🌿 Olive Oil
A classic soapmaking oil known for producing a mild, creamy bar. Olive oil contributes to a smooth, conditioning feel.
🥥 Organic Coconut Oil
Helps provide cleansing power and abundant, fluffy bubbles. We use organic coconut oil in our soap formulations.
🌿 Organic Shea Butter
Adds richness and creaminess to our soaps while helping create a luxurious lather and soft, comfortable skin feel.
🌱 Organic Castor Oil
A little goes a long way in soap. Castor oil helps support a creamy, stable lather and beautiful bubbles.
🥭 Mango Butter
A rich plant butter used in our body-care formulations. Mango butter contributes a creamy, moisturizing feel and gives products a luxurious texture.
🥑 Avocado Oil
A nourishing plant oil rich in fatty acids. In our soaps and lotions, avocado oil contributes to a soft, smooth, conditioning skin feel.
🌱 Hempseed Oil
A lightweight plant oil that we love for its silky feel. Hempseed oil adds a nourishing touch to our lotions and body-care products.
🥛 Raw Goat Milk
Raw goat milk contributes to the creamy, luxurious feel of our soaps and helps create a wonderfully smooth lather.
🍯 Raw Honey
Honey contains natural sugars that can contribute to a rich, bubbly lather. We love adding raw honey to our soaps for its natural character and beautiful pairing with milk and oats.
🌾 Colloidal Oats
Colloidal oats give our soaps a soft, creamy feel and are a favorite ingredient for creating a comforting cleansing experience.
🧵 Tussah Silk
Tussah silk is added to some of our soaps to give the lather an extra smooth and silky feel. It's one of those little details that makes a handcrafted bar feel special.

🤍 Kaolin Clay
A gentle clay that adds slip and contributes to a smooth, creamy lather. It also gives our soaps a beautiful, silky feel.
🌸 Rose Clay
A naturally beautiful clay that adds its soft rosy color while contributing to the texture and feel of the soap.
🌿 French Green Clay
Adds earthy color and natural character to our bars while contributing to a smooth cleansing experience.
💜 Purple Brazilian Clay
A naturally mineral-rich clay known for its beautiful soft purple hue. Purple Brazilian Clay adds natural color and character to our handcrafted soaps while contributing to a smooth, creamy feel.
🤎 Bentonite Clay
Known for its silky texture and excellent slip. It can give soap a smooth, creamy feel and is especially popular in shaving and facial formulations.
🖤 Activated Charcoal
A finely powdered form of charcoal used in soap for its deep, dramatic color and cleansing feel. It creates a beautiful contrast in our designs and is especially popular in facial and body bars.
🌿 ORGANIC TURMERIC
Turmeric has been treasured for generations in traditional beauty and skincare. It contains naturally occurring antioxidant compounds and is valued for its soothing, refreshing, and skin-loving qualities.
We also love turmeric for the beautiful golden color it naturally brings to our soaps.
🌼 BOTANICALS
We use different botanicals depending on the individual product. They can add natural beauty, texture, and character to our handcrafted soaps.
✨ SOAP-SAFE MICA
For our colorful soap designs, we use micas specifically selected for use in soapmaking. We choose environmentally conscious options whenever possible and use them to create the beautiful colors and designs that make each bar unique.
💧 DISTILLED WATER
Distilled water is used in our cold-process soapmaking process to dissolve the sodium hydroxide and help create the saponification process that transforms our oils and fats into soap.
⚗️ SODIUM HYDROXIDE
Sodium hydroxide is an essential part of traditional cold-process soapmaking. It reacts with our oils and fats through saponification to create true soap.
When a soap recipe is properly formulated and the saponification process is complete, sodium hydroxide is no longer present as sodium hydroxide in the finished bar.

🥑 Avocado Oil
A nourishing plant oil that contributes to a smooth, soft, conditioning feel in our lotions and body-care products.
🌻 Sunflower Oil
A lightweight plant oil that contributes to a soft, smooth skin feel and is a wonderful addition to our lotions and body-care products.
🌱 Hempseed Oil
A lightweight oil that gives our lotions a silky, nourishing feel without making them feel overly heavy.
💧 Vegetable Glycerine
A humectant that helps attract moisture to the skin and gives lotions and other body-care products a smooth, comfortable feel.
🌿 Vitamin E
Used in our formulations as an antioxidant to help protect oils from oxidation while adding another thoughtful touch to our skincare products.
🧴 Olivem Wax
A plant-derived emulsifying ingredient that helps bring oil and water together to create a smooth, creamy lotion.
Stearic Acid
Helps give lotions and creams their structure, thickness, and rich texture.
Magnesium Chloride
Used in our magnesium lotion as a source of magnesium in a topical formulation, while contributing to the product's unique skin feel.
OUR FRAGRANCES
When we use fragrance oils, we choose paraben-free and phthalate-free fragrance options whenever available. We carefully select our scents to create everything from warm and cozy to fresh, tropical, earthy, and floral experiences.
We also offer fragrance-free options for those who prefer products without added fragrance.

And because we're a small business, we're involved in the process from beginning to end.
